Title: Grad School Necessity!

Review: I tried really hard to get through grad school without this. In my last semester, I broke down and bought it because (believe it or not) our library did not have the most recent edition. Some reviewers say you can find all this information online. While that is true, I find having it laid out this methodically in one place to be really helpful.

Title: Not just sufficient--necessary.

Review: There are a very few books that are necessary to know about to write non-fiction essays well at the graduate level. One is the classic by Strunk and White, "The Elements of Style." A slim classic nearing a hundred years old, it remains (through many editions) the best, short guide for clear, concise writing. On the opposite side of the coin lies a huge, heavy tome out of Chicago, the massive "Chicago Manual of Style." It is the last word, trust me, LAST word for journalists, editors, publishers and writers on every imaginable question of form, grammar, syntax, punctuation, etc, in the world of writing. Also out of the University of Chicago (and the Chicago Tribune newspaper), is this book, Kate Turabian's long-ago answer to writing essays, theses and dissertations--it is a longer book than "The Elements of Style", of course. If you are facing a Master's thesis, or certainly a PhD. dissertation, this is a NECESSARY read, and an invaluable reference. My daughter is facing a senior thesis at an Ivy League school this year, and this is the first gift I gave her.

Title: Just What Was Recommended

Review: The Chicago/Turrabian Style for writing research papers for college and university is pretty much a standard. This is an easy to use manual that is complete in all the nuances required for writing and citing, to name two areas, that higher education research requires. The cost was good as well as the delivery.

Title: If you're in graduate school, you need this!

Review: Why did I wait so long to make this purchase? I can get all of my Turabian questions answered by searching for key words in the Kindle app. It's helping me with my final papers for my first semester in seminary. I'm so glad I bought it! The Kindle version is clean, clear, and incredibly easy to use on my laptop. Highly recommend!

Title: Invaluable

Review: I bought a copy of this to use as a reference while writing my Master's of Science Thesis. I would highly recommend this to anyone working on a similar project (this is not just a science specific text). I have a couple other style and technical writing manuals, but this is the most useful research writing reference by far. The great part about this text is that you don't need to spend hours poring over it before taking away useful advice and practices; I was usually able to answer my immediate questions and find a path forward from 15-20 minute intervals of reading. This allowed me to get more writing time in and produce pages that honored the overall structure and objective of my research I'm grateful for the amount of time this saved me, and believe that quality of my writing is much better for having come across this. Do yourself a favor and get a copy right away.

Title: This most valuable resource should be in every family or personal library!

Review: I started using this excellent resource in high school when I was an editor on our monthly newspaper and when composing papers for various classes. I used it even more at university where I had many more writing
assignments.
I believe that this excellent resource contributed to my doing well in many of my academic efforts and ultimately to graduate from high school when I was sixteen and from university at nineteen.
I then used it extensively in my thirty year, very productive career as an officer in the United States Navy.
I believe this book could and should be an excellent resouce in every family or individual's library.

Review: This book was supposed to be for my college-bound son, but he already had one (and didn't tell me), so I'll be keeping this one for myself, as I also do some academic writing. Always good to have a reference guide like this on hand when applying for PhD programs, or writing papers for publication. Would also work for college/graduate school students who still need to write papers!
